GRA-IITB
GRA group is involved in an amalgam of activities that can help teach us the way most of our country lives. We undertake activities and projects with the goal of exposing students and faculty of IIT Bombay to real India. Most of our country lives in rural areas. A large part our urban population lives in slums (about 60% of Mumbai) and is closely associated with the degeneration of our villages. Activities of GRA are aimed at understanding the way of living, value systems and condition of our society through a direct exposure in a participatory manner. Through this, we also try to emphasize the need for appropriate technology alternatives for our rural areas which address the real problems of villagers, demystify technology and use locally available resources to the extent possible. The emphasis is also on the participation of the local people in the process of solution.
